The five week-long offerings are integrated and informed to work on a continuum; participation in any one week, combination of several weeks, or all five weeks together is viable and rewarding.

Participants have 24-hour access to dedicated studio space at Maine College of Art. Most choose to live in the College's dorm together, a short walk away from the studio. Portland is an accessible, friendly and easy walking city, two hours north of Boston.

ADMISSION
Admission is based upon a portfolio review. Application may be downloaded or call for a faxed or mailed copy.

---SLIDES Send 20 mounted 35 mm slides of your work set for viewing in a Kodak Carousel slide tray. The Carousel tray should be marked with your name and address, and each slide should be labeled.
---Or ZIP DISC with your portfolio in a slide show format.
---Or URL with an online portfolio. (No printed matter please)
2. Include a list of all work submitted.
3. State your objectives in pursuing study at the Institute in 3 - 5 sentences.
4. Return labels and postage. All portfolio materials must be accompanied with prepared return address labels and sufficient postage stamps to cover priority or parcel post rates (please specify). MECA cannot be responsible for the transportation and safekeeping of materials submitted.
5. A non-refundable application fee of $35 in a check or money order payable to Maine College of Art.
6. If you are requesting housing, include a housing application form along with a $60 room deposit.
7. If you are seeking financial assistance, include a financial aid application form.
8. If you are an undergraduate student, include the names and phone numbers of two references.

The program has rolling admissions, and applications will be reviewed on a space available basis. Notification of acceptance status will be mailed within two weeks after receipt of complete application. Full fees for accepted applicants are due July 5, 2002.

CREDIT
Five College credits are awarded for the complete program. Each five-day workshop earns one credit and equals 45 hours of combined contact and independent work. A free transcript of these credits can be provided by a request in writing. (Include: the address you would like the transcript sent to, your SS# and signature, and your current mailing address. Maine College of Art is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Ensuring credit transferability is each participant's responsibility.

TUITION
Per five-day workshop: $795. Two weeks: $1530. Three weeks: $2,235. Four weeks: $2,860. Full five-week program: $3,475. There is a non-refundable application fee of $35.

REFUNDS
Refunds 100% of tuition charges will be refunded for withdrawal from the Institute before June 21 and 50% refunded for withdrawal between June 22 and July 14. No refunds will be made after July 15. The application fee is non-refundable. All withdrawal requests must be made in writing to Director of Special Programs, bpanzini@meca.edu


HOUSING
Modest hostel-style accommodations are available at Holbrook House, the College's convenient freshman dorm. Rooms are primarily double occupancy. Lavatories and showers are down the hall. Kitchen and laundry facilities are on site.

Price (PP/DO): $215/one week, $325/two weeks, $510/three weeks, $610/four weeks, $710 five weeks. Single occupancy: $265, $495, $680, $805, and $930 respectively.

FINANCIAL AID
Limited institutional financial aid is available from Maine College of Art to students demonstrating ability and need. All students seeking aid must complete a financial aid form, which must be received by the deadline of May 3, 2002. Accepted students will be notified of financial aid decisions by June 3, 2002.

SUPPLIES
Some basic, consumable art supplies will be provided. Participants will receive a supply list particular to each week in early July. An art store is an easy walk from the studio.
